The Aquatic Uncle

Are there any prominent symbols in the story? If so, what are they and how are they used?

Scared/unwelcoming to change, comfort in the known. The uncle finds comfort and no reason to leave where he is or what he knows. His family tries to persuede him into leaving and moving on land with them, but he is reluctant to the idea. He always had one viewpoint which was aquatic, and was very stubborn and also had a strict way of thinking on his beliefs. He saw no reason or interest in discovering anything new or anything that had no connection to what he already knew. Convincing/persuation were things that also appeared in the story about whether land or water was better. Curiosity by the narrarators wife about aquatic life, because she only knew one life, since her family was so disconnected from the aquatic world.

What connections did you make with the story you read? Discuss the elements of the work with which you connect.

Concern about trying new things but also curiosity and open to them. Also choice making and deciding whats best for self while allowing viewpoints from others to come to a conclusion/decision. Also thoughts of the older generations of my older family members and their viewpoints compared to mine on certain topics. The disconnection in the time differences and how certain things that were aceeptable then arent now and vise versa.

What changes would you make to adapt this story into another medium? What medium would you use? What changes would you make?

I would change the setting of where it takes place also the characters and time period. I would make them human characters instead of animals. I would change the setting/time into a future one, where the argument is about which one is better and why. The arguement would be held by an older person vs a young one.
